Chief Minister for peaceful solution to Darjeeling crisis
Siliguri, Mar 01 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today exuded confidence of resolving the Darjeeling imbroglio amicably so that cohesion between the people of plains and hills remained intact.
Mr Bhattachrjee said that they had already found a solution to solve problem of the hills and '' we would cotinue to talk to find out solution''.
Mr Bhattacharjee was here to attend a state conference of CITU, that began today.
The Chief Minister yesterday said in Kolakta that he had asked GNLF president Subash Ghisingh to quit the post of caretaker administrator from Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) on his own in ten days or else the government would be forced to remove him.
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leader Bimal Gurung, who led a 7-member team to Kolkata to hold talk with the government, returned on a same flight with the chief minister, was accorded a hero's welcome.
Hundreds of people had assembled at Bagdogra airport to greet their new leader Bimal Gurung, who literally ousted Ghisingh, as the latter was not allowed to enter Darjeeling since mid of February.
After his arrival, Mr Gurung was escorted to Darjeeling, where clashes between GNLF supporters and GJM activists were reported today.
