NHRC notice to MCD Chief in corporal punishment case in school
New Delhi, Feb 29 (UNI) Taking suo motu notice of a newspaper report about a teacher beating up students, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the MCD Commissioner and the Director (Education), and directed them to file a report within four weeks.
The report, dated February 22, had alleged that two students -- Anil and Narender of Class IV of a Narela school-- were beaten by their teacher Pradeep Kumar for creating nuisance while playing in the school playground.
The contents of the press reports, if found true, raise serious issues of human rights (HR) violation, the Commission observed.
