Dharam Vir is Haryana Chief Secretary
Chandigarh, Feb 29 (UNI) Haryana Government today appointed Mr Dharam Vir, a 1973 IAS batch officer, as the Chief Secretary of the state.
He takes over from Ms Promilla Issar, who retired from service yesterday.
Besides performing his duties as Chief Secretary, Mr Dharam Vir will hold the additional charge of General Administration, Personnel, Training, Vigilance, Parliamentary Affairs and Administrative Reforms. He will also be the Secretary, incharge of Plan Coordination.
Earlier, Mr Dharam Vir was holding the charge of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management and Rehabilitation and Consolidation.
A highly qualified officer, Mr Dharam Vir has done MBA from the University of Leeds, UK. His other qualifications are BSc (Honours) in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 1969 and M Sc in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1971.
Before joining the Haryana IAS cadre, Mr Dharam Vir did research for two years in Solid State Physics at IIT, Kanpur. During his long administrative carrier he has held number of important positions both at the Centre and state.
