Dharam Vir Haryana Chief Secretary
Chandigarh, Feb 29 (UNI) Haryana Government today appointed Mr Dharam Vir, a 1973 IAS batch officer, as the Chief Secretary of the state.
He takes over from Ms Promilla Issar, who retired from the service yesterday.
Besides performing his duties as the Chief Secretary, Mr Vir would hold the additional charge of General Administration, Personnel, Training, Vigilance, Parliamentary Affairs and Administrative Reforms. He would also be the Secretary, incharge of Plan Coordination.
Earlier, Mr Vir was holding the charge of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management and Rehabilitation and Consolidation.
Mr Dharam Vir has done MBA from the University of Leeds, UK. His other qualifications are BSc (Honours) in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology - Kharagpur in 1969 and M Sc in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology - Kanpur in 1971.
Before joining the Haryana IAS cadre, Mr Vir did research for two years in Solid State Physics at IIT - Kanpur. During his long administrative carrier, he has held a number of important positions both at the Centre and the state.
The government has now given the charge of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management and Rehabilitation and Consolidation Department to Mr K S Bhoria, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Home, Jails, Criminal Investigations and Administration of Justice Department.
He has also been given the charge of Forests and Environment Department consequent upon the retirement of Mr H C Disodia.
Ms Feroza Mehrotra has been given the charge of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Home, Jails, Criminal Investigations and Administration of Justice Department on her return from Central Deputation.
