FM announces remuneration for Anganwadi workers

New Delhi, Feb 29: Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Friday announced a package of remuneration for Anganwadi workers.

Their remuneration will be increased from 1,000 per month to Rs. 1,500 per month, said Chidambaram while presenting the General Budget 2008-09 in the Lok Sabha. Likewise, the remuneration of Anganwadi Helpers will be increased from Rs. 500 per month to Rs. 750 per month. Over 18 lakh Anganwadi workers and helpers will benefit from the increase.
