Budget is growth-oriented: FICCI
Ahmedabad, Feb 29 (UNI) Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Gujarat chairman Amit Goradia said overall budget is balanced and growth-oriented.
Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's steps like loan waiver for farmers, increase in personal income tax limit, provisions for healthcare and education are very positive, he said, adding, current fiscal deficit is manageable.
While Congress state chief Bharatsinh Solanki has congrutulated Mr Chidambaram for presenting ''a budget for common man'', saying that the budget was growth and production oriented.
He said the Finance Minister has kept middle class and farmers in the mind and that was most commendable. With announcement of loan waiver, farmers can now concentrate on increasing their contribution to the growth of nation's GDP. It would serve the great ideal of social justice, he added.
Leader of opposition in state assembly Shaktisinh Gohil said the budget would be remembered in the history of the nation as ''people-oriented budget''.
