Budget has done justice to farmers: Deshmukh, Patil
Mumbai, Feb 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil have hailed the budget presented by Finance Minister P Chidambaram saying it has ''done justice to the debt-ridden farmers''.
In separate statements, the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister said total loan of Rs 5,000 crore of 25 lakh farmers in the state would be waived.
The budget has also provided succour to the middle-class by increasing the income tax slab, they added.
The budgetary provisions will help the below-the poverty-line people, the irrigation projects and the common man in general, Mr Deshmukh added.
