Another witness turns hostile in Harpreet murder case
Patiala, Feb 29 (UNI) Another CBI witness today turned hostile in Harpreet Kaur murder case in a local court here today.
Former SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur is facing charges of hatching a conspiracy to kill her pregnant daughter Harpreet Kaur after she had "married" Kamaljit Singh against the wishes of her family.
CBI witness Prof Jaswant Singh, who appeared in the court of District Session judge Inderjit Singh Walia, said he had earlier recorded his statement with Metropolitan Magistrate Delhi after being harassed by CBI in New Delhi.
He said the CBI had given him a ''written chit'' at that time.
He said he was lecturer of Government college of Kapurthala.
The court has adjourned the case for tomorrow.
Harpreet Kaur was allegedly done to death on the night of April 20, 2000 as she was administered an overdose of a sedative called phenobarbitone.
It was alleged that the former SGPC chief had taken the help of her confidants Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi and Paramjit Singh Raipur and gave a sedative to Harpreet following which her baby was aborted by Dr Balwinder Singh Sohal, who later turned approver in the case.
