20 injured in bus accident

Malda, Feb 29 (UNI) Twentytwo people of a marriage party, including the groom, were injured today when the bus they were travelling in fell down from an incomplete bridge near here.

Police said the driver of the bus, going to North Dinajpur's Etahar block from Malda's Gajole block, lost control of the vehicle and overshot the incomplete Madokpur bridge and fell down into the Kalindi river.

The passengers, however, had a providential escape as the river was dry.

The local populace helped the people out of the bus and admitted the injured to the Etahar block hospital where the condition of two was stated to be critical.

Unconfirmed sources said one person had died.
