150 temporary huts gutted in fire

Ariyalur, Feb 29 (UNI) More than 150 huts were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a cement plant under construction near here, early today.

Police said authorities of the plant erected over 200 temporary huts for housing workers, engaged in the construction work.

On information fire units rushed there and put out the blaze.

Though there was no loss of life, a huge quantity of foodgrains and house hold articles valued at Rs five lakh were destroyed in the fire, police added.
