Speaker calls for enhanced relations with Slovak Republic

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today expressed confidence that the forthcoming visit of Slovak Parliamentary Delegation will open a new chapter in the relations between the two countries, particularly the two parliaments.

During a call-on by the Slovak Ambassador Alexander ll'ascik, Mr Chatterjee said there should be synergy between the members of the two parliaments, which will help in strengthening the overall relationship between the countries and their people.

He highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary exchanges and also welcomed the fact that the trade between the two countries had picked up in recent times.

Describing the forthcoming visit of the delegation, led by the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, as ''historic'', Mr Alexander observed that it would be followed by the visits of the Foreign Minister and later of the Prime Minister of that country.
