Silver opens high, gold eases
Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) A mixed trend was observed in the precious metals today as white metal improved by Rs 15 per kg on fresh buying support while yellow metal slightly declined by Rs 20 per ten gm in the opening session, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.
In the domestic market, silver opened high while gold fell but in the international market, both the precious metals soared, traders added.
Singapore market report said that gold rose to USD 959.70/960.50 an ounce from USD 957.50/958.30 late in New York.
Silver moved up to USD 19.31/19.36 an ounce from USD 19.22/19.27 an ounce.
Following were the opening rates of spot silver and gold in the Bombay Bullion market today: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade : Rs 23,780 Gold (per 10 gm) Gold 99.5 purity standard mint : Rs 12,325 Gold 99.9 purity pure gold : Rs 12,375.
