Guj Govt passes amendment of Registration Act, 1908 bills
Gandhinagar, Feb 28 (UNI) Gujarat Legislative Assembly today passed the Registration (Gujarat Amendment) Bill-2008.
The Registation Act, 1908 is regarding power of attorney relating to the transfer of immovable property. The bill seeks to prevent evasion of stamp duty by builders and land traders.
Now, the bill has made it compulsory to register power of attorney with the registrar.
According to the state government, in absence of provision for complusory registration, attempts were being made by the builders and land traders to evade the stamp duty.
