Gopinath Munde demands CID probe in Sangli violence
Sangli, Maharashtra Feb 28 (UNI) BJP Senior Leader Gopinath Munde today demanded a CID probe into the violence in the city, that erupted after some local organisations stopped screening of 'Jodhaa-Akbar', and the subsequent police lathi-charge.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Munde, who visited the trouble-torn city this afternoon, alleged that the problem was created by the police resorting to lathi-charge to disperse 'Shivpratisthan' activists.
Sangli District Superintendent of Police Krishnaprakash is responsible for this situation, Mr Munde alleged and demanded his transfer immediately.
State Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who also holds State Home portfolio, has totally failed to maintain control over the police, he added.
If the government failed to initiate proper action into the police lathi-charge incident till March 10, then an agitation will be held, he said.
