14 crushed to death by train near Surat

Surat, Feb 28 : At least 14 people were crushed to death by a train in Udhna District late on Wednesday night, Railway Police said.

The accident occurred in South Kankrakhadi in Udhna, which is about three km from Surat, at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

The driver of another train spotted the dead that included two women and two children.

The driver of train, 'Flying Rani', which runs between Surat and Mumbai, immediately informed the Railway authorities of the accident, Railway Police Inspector H M Patel said.

Investigations are on to determine the cause of the accident.
