Two held with explosives in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 27: Two people were arrested with a huge cache of explosives from Noonmati area of Guwahati last night.

Additional Superintendent of Police Debojit Deuri informed today that one Binod Thapa was arrested last afternoon and on the basis of information extracted from him during interrogation, another person Harmohan Barman was arrested later in the evening.

One electronic detonator was recovered from Thapa, while 60 fuse detonators, 14 electronic detonators and about 5 kg of low intensity explosives were seized from Barman, besides other materials used for making bombs. Mr Deuri said the explosives could be linked to insurgent outfits, adding that investigation was on to ascertain whether the arrested persons were involved with militants.
