TDP forces adjournment of AP assembly
Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for a brief period today as the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) stalled the proccedings for over 20 minutes in protest against the alleged police action on TDP MLA Ayyanna Patrudu. The trouble started as soon as the House assembled for the day when Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the adjourment motion given notice of by the TDP on the issue and alleged non-representation of people representives in the committees for the election of beneficiaries under the Indiramma programme.
Soon TDP members were on their seat demanding adjournment of the listed business and immediate taking up of the issue concerning violation of the privileges of a legislator.
The Speaker suggested that the TDP members give a notice to him to take appropriate action.
Maintaining that the TDP members could take up the issue later during the discussion on the budget, the Speaker appealed to the members to resume their seats. As repeated appeals fell on deaf ears, he announced adjournment of the House for 15 minutes.
The Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of, by the BJP on alleged meagre allocation for Andhra Pradesh in the Railway Budget, CPI on inadequate facilities in government hospitals, by the CPM on non-payment of salaries on regular basis to anganwadi workers and lone Janata Party member K Ramulu on non-sanctioning of new railway lines in his home Metapalli constitiency.
