Punjab Cong welcomes special trains to Nanded

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (UNI) The Punjab Congress today welcomed the Rail Budget hailing Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's announcement to run a special train between Sri Anandpur Sahib and Nanded on the tercentenary celebrations of Guruta Gaddi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

The running of another train between Patna Sahib to Nanded was also appreciated by the party as this would facilitate the journey of pilgrims on the occasion of Guruta Gaddi celebrations.

State Congress President and Leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said the construction of new rail links between Anandpur Sahib-Garhshankar, Ferozepur-Patti, Nangal-Barotiwala-Baddi and Hoshiarpur-Una, would benefit the people of these areas.

Allocation of more funds in Punjab for converting Nangal-Talwara railway lines into broad-gauge, new railway lines for Abohar-Fazilka, Tarn Taran-Goindwal and electrification of existing track between Jalandhar and Jammu Tawi will make travelling on these sections more convenient, she said in a statement.

Manufacturing of modern steel coaches for the Railways will generate more employment in Kapurthala area where a new ancillary units for the Rail Coach Factory will come up., she pointed out.
