MP to purchase wheat direct from ryots
Bhopal, Feb 27 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government would purchase wheat directly from grain markets and other places instead of lifting imported red wheat from the Centre, Civil Supplies Minister Akhand Pratap Singh informed officials through video-conferencing today.
An intensive three-month purchase campaign would get underway on March 1. The target is to buy 10 lakh quintals, double of last year's quantity.
The red wheat had stirred a political hornet's nest with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan alleging that it was ''substandard'' while the main opposition Congress maintained that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the wheat.
