Action against deputy jailors over prisoners escape

Etawah, Feb 27 (UNI) Three deputy jailors were today suspended over the escape of two prisoners from the district jail recently.

Besides, suspension of the Jail Superintendent has been sought from the Uttar Pradesh government.

DG (Prison) G K Tandon took the action against Nathu Singh, R P Dixit and Shiv Kumar on the basis of a report submitted by Deputy Director General (prison) Shyam Lal Tiwari.

Five prison guards have already been suspended, sources said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) S R S Aditya said ''the two notorious jail birds must have escaped with the help of jail officials and workers.'' Sonveer and Ramanand, incarcerated in Barrack number 9, were found missing on Sunday night.

The district jail had been in news off late after dreaded dacoit Nirbhey Gurjar's wife Neelam Gupta accused the jail superintendent for outraging her modesty.
