Abducted Union Minister's son escapes; wife behind plot

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) The kidnap story of Union Minister and reputed film Director Dasari Narayana Rao's son Dasari Prabhu resembles the story line of a typical box office flick, with his own daughter-in-law ''plotting'' the drama demanding a hefty sum.

Narrating the 'plot', executed in Chennai and neighbouring Chittoor town of Andhra Pradesh, Mr Prabhu's uncle, one Mr Prasad said Mr Rao's 34-year-old son had filed for divorce from his wife Susheela in a family court in Hyderabad.

Talking to UNI today, Mr Prasad claimed that Susheela, who is four years elder to Mr Prabhu, had been harassing him for property ever since her husband had filed for divorce.

Two years ago when Susheela demanded the hefty sum, Mr Rao had agreed to give a share in his property through a gift deed in the name of his son. But Susheela, turning down the proposal, had demanded that Mr Rao give the same in the form of a sale deed.

Recounting the kidnap drama, Mr Prasad said Mr Prabbu's wife had brought him to Chennai to visit her brother, who was being treated in a hospital here.

However, after visiting the hospital, Susheela with the help of a six-member gang had forcibly taken him to Chittoor and locked him up in a hotel room, where they got Mr Prabhu drunk and forcibly obtained his signature on a blank paper and left the hotel.

Later, Susheela herself lodged a complaint of kidnap to cover up her involvement, Mr Prasad said.

''Mr Prabhu took the help of a boy employed in the hotel and came to my residence in Chennai,'' he said, adding that Mar Prabhu had married Susheela 13 years ago after falling in love with her.

Earlier, Mr Prabhu told a private Telugu news channel that the kidnap was stage-managed by his wife. He was abducted by a group of people close to his wife at Chittoor, yesterday, he claimed.
