SP decries Rail Budget for non-focusing UP
Lucknow, Feb 26 (UNI) Principal Opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) today decried Railway Budget 2008-09 for its ignorance on Uttar Pradesh.
''The budget has done a step-motherly treatment to UP, the biggest state of India,'' SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said addressing media.
'' The budget, placed on the table of the Lok Sabha by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, seems to be an 'election budget.' Terming two or four stations as world class will not work,'' he charged.
The passengers have been facing problems in getting reservations and platform tickets, Mr Chaudhary maintained, adding, ''the budget lacks any long-term scheme that may improve economic status of the country.'' Besides, the commonman was befooled at the name of Garib Raths, he alleged.
''The fact is passengers are not even getting the basic facilties...the dismal condition of rail tracks are resulting in mishaps,'' the SP spokesperson added.
