Sony bags international distribution rights to new 'Terminator'

Washington, Feb 26 : Sony Pictures has bought the international distribution rights to the new 'Terminator' movie.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group inked a deal with the film's producers, Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson of the Halcyon Co., in which it gets distribution rights to all foreign countries except for Korea and some Middle East nations.

"The Sony distribution team is really energized by this opportunity to work with Victor and Derek at the Halcyon Co. in continuing our involvement with the 'Terminator' series," Hollywood Reporter quoted Peter Schlessel, president of worldwide affairs at Sony, as saying.

Warner Bros. is handling U.S. and Canadian distribution rights for the film.

'Batman Begins' star Christian Bale will be joining Sam Worthington in 'Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins'.

Worthington is taking over Arnold Schwarzenegger's famous role as the Terminator in the new pic.

The production is scheduled to begin in April (08) in New Mexico and is due to hit cinemas in 2009.
