CPI(ML) demands Pondy Minister's resignation

Puducherry, Feb 26 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) today demanded the immediate resignation of Health Minister E Valsaraj in the wake of the vigilance and anti-corrouption police registering cases against him.

A resolution adopted at the party's state committee meeting here, noted that an impartial inquiry could not be conducted with Mr Valsaraj in power and hence, the Chief Minister should take steps to dismiss him if he failed to come forward and resign.

Another resolution urged the administration to suspend the PWD Chief Engineer forthwith as the CBI had chargesheeted him in a case of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
