CITU terms Railway budget ''pro-people''; praises Lalu
Kolkata, Feb 26 (UNI) Describing the Railway Budget as ''pro-people'', the Centre of Indian Trade Union Congress(CITU) today waxed eloquent about Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for his announcement to convert unmanned crossings into manned ones.
'' The 2008-2009 Railway Budget is people-oriented and the credit goes to Mr Prasad alone because he has prepared the budget. The Congress always makes anti-people Budget, CITU state president Shyamal Chakraborty told newspersons here.
'' We have been expecting more for our state from this Budget. The East-West freight corridor, which Mr Prasad announced in his Budget, is not new because it was the Left's earlier demand, '' he said.
'' We are also welcoming Mr Prasad for his announcement to appoint porters as gangmen and to other Group D posts, '' he added.
