Assault case against parliamentarian

Satna, MP, Feb 26 (UNI) An assault case has been registered in this district against Uttar Pradesh's Samajwadi Party MP Akshay Pratap Singh, who represents Pratapgarh, and his associates, police said.

Mr Singh stands accused of assaulting Majhgawan Janpad Panchayat Member Usha Singh's husband Shailendra Singh. The case was registered at Kothi Police Station yesterday.

''A plot, which is located in this district's Sonaur village and on which a college is being constructed by the MP, is disputed. My husband was targeted on February 24 after he protested against the construction,'' Ms Singh alleged.
