Army's new medical college begins this year
New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) A new medical college, Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS), Delhi Cantt, will to commence its first MBBS course in the coming academic session this year, the Defence Ministry said in a statement today.
Affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasth University, ACMS with 100 seats for medical graduate course, has been established under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES).
Wards of Army personnel, including Short Service officers who have served for ten years, are eligible to apply for admission in the college, the statement said.
Children of officers from Army Medical and Dental Corps, who are presently serving in the Airforce or Navy but have also done the Army service for 10 years and are members of Army Officers Benevolent Fund, will also be eligible to apply, it added. Wards of Military Nursing Services and Army Postal Service personnel, who have served in the Army for ten years, are also eligible.
Admissions to all 100 seats will be based on a common entrance test to be conducted by Guru Gobind Indraprasth University, the Defence Ministry said.
Eligible candidates shortlisted on the basis of CET marks will be called for counseling at ACMS in July 2008.
After
completing
the
course,
the
candidates
will
have
to
join
the
Army
as
short
service
officers
in
Army's
Medical
Corps,
the
Ministry
added.
