AP Govt earned Rs 3,635 crore through land auction
Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Urban Development and Municipal Administration minister K Ranga Rao today said the state government had earned Rs 3,635 crore by auctioning the lands in Hyderabad, Medak and Ranga Reddy districts.
Replying to a question by Congress MLC K Janardhan Reddy in the Council, Mr Rao said Rs 25.99 crore was earned by auctioning 10 acres in Medak, Rs 551.67 crore from Hyderabad and Rs 3,057.21 crore from Ranga Reddy district.
Stating that the government had issued GO 274 and 430 to auction the lands, he said part of the revenue would be utilised for undertaking infrastructure projects like Outer Ring Road (ORR), P V Narasimha Rao Express Way and road projects in the three districts.
After the minister's reply, Mr K Nageshwara Rao (Ind) said though his district did not have a single government degree college, it generated huge revenues in the auction. He warned of an indefinite hunger strike at the Council premises, if the government did not respond positively to the demand for setting up a college.
Responding to the MLC's statement, state Finance Minister K Rosaiah said the Chief Minister had directed the officials concerned to take steps for setting up a college in the district.
