21st All-India Postal Hockey Championship

Bhopal, Feb 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu pipped Uttar Pradesh 5-0 and Punjab trounced Orissa 8-0 today in the 21st All-India Postal Hockey Championship to advance to the next round.

In a Pool A encounter, Tamil Nadu's scintillating performance made the scoreboard read 4-0 by the 25th minute at the Sports Authority of India's stadium in Bishankhedi. The Championship is being played on knockout basis. The 5th goal was scored in the 64th minute by converting a penalty corner. R Jawahar scored in the 19th, 25th and 64th minutes.

In a Pool B match, Punjab's Dharampal scored 5 times, including converting a penalty corner. Sanjay Kumar scored 3 goals.

Tomorrow, Madhya Pradesh will clash with Tamil Nadu and Punjab with Karnataka.
