Six killed as train hits car in Punjab
Ludhiana, Feb 25 (UNI) Six persons, including three children, were killed when a passenger train rammed into their car at an unmanned level crossing between Jagraon and Ajitwal village, this evening, police sources said.
The accident occurred when the car tried to cross the level crossing and was hit by the 4LF Ludhiana-Ferozpur passenger train.
The train dragged the car a few yards before coming to a halt.
While four persons, which included two children and their parents died on the spot, two others, including another child and the car driver succumbed to their injuries at a hospital here.
The names of the deceased were not yet known, but police sources said that they belonged to Jalalabad in Ferozpur district.
This is the third such accident on an unmanned level crossing in the state in the last three months. All the three mishaps have taken place on the Ludhiana-Ferozpur rail section.
The first such mishap took place in Moga district in December last year when a train rammed into a bus killing 16 persons including school children.
