Freedom fighter Devalgaonkar dies
Gulbarga, Feb 25 (UNI) Freedom Fighter Babu Saheb Devalgaonkar passed away here today.
He was 91. He is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Devalgaonkar took part in the liberation movement against the Nizam of Hyderabad in 1948. He was also in jail for 13 months during the freedom struggle.
The nonagenarian leader was also known for his literary skills.
Prof Devalgaonkar had translated a number of books from Marathi to Kannada.
He was the recipient of Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and was also associated with Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Marathi Sahitya Sangh.
The funeral would take place tomorrow, family sources said.
