Date extended for loan settlement scheme

Chandigarh, Feb 25 (UNI) Haryana Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation has extended upto March 16 the period of the 'One Time Settlement Scheme' for waiving of interest and penal interest of those loanees whose dues are in arrears as on March 31, 2006.

Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Minister Kartar Devi said this benefit would be admissible only if they make payment of entire outstanding principal amount in lumpsum or in installments upto June 30, 2007.

She said that under this scheme, Rs 1.31 crore on account of interest and penal interest of 4940 loanees had so far been waived off.

She said with a view to assisting the beneficiaries for self employment ventures, the Corporation has so far assisted 8468 beneficiaries by providing them financial assistance of Rs 28.66 crore during the current financial year.
