CPI(Maoist) activist killed in Jharkhand
Daltonganj, Feb 25 (UNI) Police today gunned down a CPI (Maoist) activist and arrested three, including two hardcore ultras, from Madanpur village under Chhatarpur police station of Palamu district.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nandu Prasad here said acting on a tip off, police intercepted two motorcyles with six people.
On being challenged, they opened fire on police, forcing the latter to retaliate in which one ultra was killed, Mr Prasad said.
The deceased, identified as Amrit Yadav, was wanted in about 27 cases, Mr Prasad said adding three others, including a Special Task Force (STF) jawan, allegedly associated with the outfit, were arrested.
Mr Prasad said other two ultras were identified as Pramod Yadav and Murari Yadav, whereas the STF jawan disclosed his identity as Sunil Yadav.
Police recovered about Rs one lakh, a pistol, 26 live cartridges and a mobile phone from them.
