2 inter-state smugglers held, weapons seized

Gorakhpur, Feb 25: Police today claimed to have arrested two inter-state smugglers and seized a foreign-made pistol, rifle and cartridges from their possession in Rajghat area here.

The outlaws, identified as Sarvesh and Ashish of Deoria districts, were nabbed near Havart dam, when the police was on patrolling, late last night. An Italy made pistol, rifle and cartridges were recovered from the spot, the police added. On interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, saying they used to sell the weapons after smuggling them from Bihar.

They also revealed their involvement in Somnath Pandey murder case, that took place at the premises of Northern Eastern Railway general Manager's office last year. The arrested had been sent to jail.
