Sonia to inaugurate 'Pushkar' scheme on Mar 14

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Feb 24 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate the Rs 600-crore 'Pushkar' lift irrigation scheme near Jaggampet in East Godavari district on March 14.

Speaking to UNI, Social Welfare Minsiter Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose said a total of 1.86 lakh acres would come under irrigation, under the project.

Water from river Godavari would be lifted at Purushothapatnam and taken to a seven km distance till Murari village to flow into canals by gravitation.

The UPA Chairperson would address a pubic meeting after the function.

Water would be released for 85,000 acres, initially.
