Hooda announces 20 pc reservation for SC in B-1 test

Yamunanagar, Feb 24 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced to restore the reservation of 20 per cent for the Scheduled Castes in the B-1 Test being conducted for promotion from constable to head constable in the police force.

Speaking at a function organised to mark 631st birthday celebration of Shri Guru Ravi Dass at Kapalmochan near here today he said this reservation was discontinued by the previous government, but he has restored it to give an equal opportunity to the members belonging to the Scheduled Castes.

Mr Hooda said that the Congress led government has always stood by the poor and the needy.

He also stressed the need for promotion of education saying that the present Haryana Government has declared the current year as the year of education.

A Rs 280 crore scheme has been implemented to facilitate the children belonging to the Scheduled Castes in getting education.

He hoped that this scheme would be followed by even other states in the days to come.

The scheme has been implemented because it was observed that 70 per cent of the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes dropped out of school by 5th class. The scheme would help in checking the drop out rate as a financial incentive of Rs 100 per month would be given to a boy upto class 5th and of Rs 150 per month to the girls upto the same class.

For classes from 5th to 8th, the SC boy would get Rs 150 per month whereas the SC girl would get Rs 200 per month upto the same class. After class 8th, the rate of assistance for a SC boy would be Rs 300 per month and for a SC girl Rs 500 per month.

This financial assistance could be withdrawn from the accounts after an interval of three months.

He further said the Government has also decided to give free computer training to students belonging to Scheduled Castes studying in government colleges.

After they complete the training, each student would get a computer free of cost.

Mr Hooda also appreciated the service being rendered by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Mandir Dera Baba Lal Dass.
