Committee constituted to probe IAF staffer's death
Jalandhar, Feb 24 (UNI) The Indian Airforce today constituted a high-level committee to probe into the death of a Group D employee, who died at Adampur Airforce Station, near here yesterday.
A case under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC was registered against Wing Commander Bharat Kumar and Flight Lt Mani Ram Maurya at Adampur Police Station in connection with the death of Sachin Bahari (26), a Group D employee, who worked as accounts assistance at the station mess.
Following the death, tension prevailed in the area, when parents and relatives of the deceased along with local residents in large number gathered outside the station gate in protest, alleging foul play in the death, whereas Airforce officials maintained that Sachin committed suicide.
Defence Spokesman Naresh Vig, while talking to UNI this evening, said that for impartial investigations, all the members in the probe team would be from Delhi.
Meanwhile, Air Vice Marshal Balasubramaniam, Adampur Station Commander Group Captain PW Amber, his wife, senior officers, along with their wives, and lady officers from the station visited the deceased's house and paid condolence to the family members.
The visiting officers also gave assurance to the family members to work out the compensation and job for the deceased's wife.
