20 killed, 31 injured in road mishaps in AP
Hyderabad, Feb 24 (UNI) As many as 20 people were killed and 31 injured in three accidents in Adilabad, Kadapa and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh, today.
Police said 13 people were killed on the spot and five others injured when the jeep in which they were travelling collided with a lorry near Bandaregadi village in Adilabad district.
The jeep was proceeding to Muktyal and the chilli-laden lorry was on its way to Adilabad from Nirmal.
The lorry driver fled from the spot.
In the second mishap, four people, including a woman, were killed and one person was injured when an autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided head-on with a lorry at Ramanagudem village in Krishna district.
Police said the lorry was on its way to Nuzividu from Vijayawada and the auto was bound for Vattigadipadu from Nuzividu when the mishap occurred.
The injured was admitted to the Vijayawada Government Hospital.
The lorry driver was at large.
In Kadapa district, three people were killed and 25 others injured when the lorry on which they were travelling overturned near Mallabata village.
Police said the lorry, proceeding from Pulivendula to Muddunur, overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a motorcycle. The injured were shifted to Jammalamadugu Government Hospital.
