18 dead in bus accident near Guwahati

Guwahati, Feb 24 (UNI) At least 18 people were killed early this morning near Guwahati when a night bus travelling from Silapathar to Guwahati fell off from a bridge near Sonapur.

Official sources said barring the handyman, everyone in the bus died. The bus hit the railings of the bridge and fell down below.

All the people were asleep when the accident took place.

The incident occurred at 0425 hrs. The bus was retrieved from the river and divers were pressed into service to recover the bodies.
