Single window approach for acid attack victims mooted
Bangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) Karnataka Women's Commission Chairperson Shalini Rajneesh today advocated a single window approach for meeting the specific needs of female victims of acid attack like medico-legal support and rehabilitation.
Speaking at a seminar on 'Victims of Acid Attack' here, she said the Government should, without any delay, pursue a policy for eliminating gender-based violence.
Giving a clarion call for regulation of acid sale, Ms Rajneesh said the State government had formulated a scheme called 'Suraksha' to provide compensation and rehabilitation to female victims of acid attacks.
''Under the scheme, the victims and their families are entitled to a claim of up to Rs two lakh towards medical expenditure incurred and rehabilitation facilities,'' she added.
