Man rescued few hours after abduction, accused killed

Lucknow, Feb 23: Police today rescued a senior official of the Central Warehousing Corporation from the clutches of his abductors and killed the accused in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the information gathered from the state police headquarters, Vinod Kumar -- stationed as manager in Karnal area of Haryana -- was kidnapped by masked men late last night in Saharanpur. Working on a tip-off, cops cordoned off the area. On being challenged, the accused opened fire.

In the ensuing encounter, Saharanpur based criminal Ahmad was killed, while his two accomplices Farooq and Ashian were apprehended.

Two pistols, several cartridges and cell phones were recovered from the spot.
