Six Indian fishermen nabbed after crossing into Pak territorial waters

Karachi, Feb.23 : Six Indian fishermen have been arrested and their boats impounded by the Pakistan Maritime Security Force (PMSF) after they crossed into Pakistan's territorial waters in the Arabian Sea.

PMSF sources said that the detained fishermen have been handed over to police in Karachi for further legal action.

They were to be produced before a court today.

A Maritime Security Agency (MSA) statement said the Indian fishermen were warned time and again not to indulge in illegal fishing but "they repeatedly come into Pakistan's EEZ (exclusive economic zone) to benefit from rich fish resources at the mouth of the Indus Delta".

Maritime security officials from India and Pakistan frequently arrest fishermen who stray into each other's territorial waters as there is no clear demarcation line near the disputed Sir Creek estuary between the two countries.
