Congress to go for Assembly polls without CM candidate
Kota, Feb 23 (UNI) AICC General Secretary and former Rajasthan chief ministrer Ashok Gehlot today said his party would go to the polls in the next Assembly election in Rajasthan without projecting its Chief Ministerial candidate.
Talking to reporters in Sagod town near here Mr Gehlot said Congress had no tradition of projecting Chief Ministerial candidate before the election and the practice would be held this time too.
He said the leader would be elected as usual by the party MLAs after the elections.
He said his ongoing statewide yatra is basically meant for propagation of Gandhian philosophy and in between his programmes, he utilised every opportunity to interact with people and party workers.
Mr Gehlot was in the town to address a Kisan Sammelan organised by Congress MLA Bharat Singh. Former Ministers Ram Kishan Verma, Shanti Dhariwal, Ashq Ali Tak and several other leaders also accompanied Mr Gehlot.
On his way from Kota to Sangod, Mr gehlot also held road shows and sought people's vote for the Congress in the next assembly elections due to be held by November later this year.
