VAC register cases against Minister
Puducherry, Feb 22 (UNI) The Vigilance and Anti- Corruption (VAC) squad has registered cases against Puducherry Health Minister E Valsaraj.
According to police, cases under six different sections of the IPC were registered against Mr Valsaraj.
Mr Valavil Sudhakaran, a former Congress leader from Mahe region moved a local court, seeking a vigilance enquiry against the minister for alleged irregularities in purchasing a land in Mahe for a B Ed college in the region.
Puducherry Chief Judge D Krishna Raj, who is also the special Judge under the VAC, admitted the writ-petition and directed the Chief Vigilance Officer(CVO) to register a case, investigate and submit the report to the court before March 7.
Meanwhile, several political parties, including the BJP, BSP and CPI demanded the resignation of Mr Valsaraj, who claimed that no irregularities took place in the purchase of land and he was prepared to face any trial.
