MP govt ayes housing scheme for cops
Bhopal, Feb 22 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today approved a Rs 80-crore housing scheme for police personnel.
A cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here, also decided to provide additional exemption of three years in the maximum age limit for examinations conducted by the State Public Service Commission. The present limit is 35 years, an official release said.
The cabinet decided to extend to December 31, 2008 the time limit of a special recruitment drive to fill the backlog of vacancies reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and disabled.
The Social Justice Department's rural libraries and reading rooms would be named after late Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kushabhau Thakre.
The cabinet decided to waive Rs 52.70 crore payable as interest on premium and lease rent of land allotted till March 31, 2000 to the state Housing Board.
The creation of an additional post of the rank of director-general of police was endorsed, the release added.
