Morcha held demanding to make PDS competent

Kolhapur, Feb 22 (UNI) A large numbers of people marched to the District Collectorate, demanding that the Public Distribution System (PDS) be made competent to control black-marketing and to make easy availability of essential commodities for the common man.

The 'morcha', organised by Ration Bachao Samiti, started from city's Bhavani Mandap shouting slogans against the essential commodity's black-marketing under the name of bogus shortage that makes the commodities unavailable for needy.

The 'morcha' was led by the Samiti President Chandrakant Yadav.

He was accompanied by Samiti member Vijay Devane, Chandrakant Bondre, two MLAs Malojee Raje, Banti Patil and others.

A deputation, led by these leaders, met District Additional Collector D D Valvi and submitted a memorandum of their demands threatening intensified agitation banning entry to the Ministers in the city if their demands are not considered soon.

Their demands includes 20 kg wheat and 15 kg rice for Rs 7 and Rs 9.50 per kg respectively, 'Kesari' (saffron-colour) for ration card holders, regular supply of cooking gas cylinder within 48 hrs after booking and others.
