Labourers invited to work by sending 'yellow rice'
Shivpuri, MP, Feb 22 (UNI) Akin to a tradition in which 'yellow rice' is sent to the people to invite them for marriages and other auspicious ceremonies, Gram Panchayats' secretaries are calling labourers having job cards for work by sending them 'yellow rice'.
District Panchayat's Chief Executive Officer R K Mishra said all the job card holder labourers were being invited for the work carried out in the villages. The drive was started from the district's Karera Sub Division.
The unique way of calling labourers for work was adopted to stop them from migrating in search of employment due to the drought-like conditions in villages.
