ECI mulling Biometric ID for voters
Kohima, Feb 22 (UNI) The Election Commission is contemplating introducing Biometric identity cards for electors across the country.
According to Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer C J Ponraj here today, biometric is a new system, where a person could be identified the recorded fingerprints.
The elector has to put his fingerprint in a scan pad and his entire biodata and photograph will be displayed on the monitor, he said.
The machines will be installed before the March five Assembly polls in the state.
Mr Ponraj also hoped that biometric ID will ease the polling process and help the officials conduct free and fair elections.
