Balloon creates panic among Mangaloreans

Mangalore, Feb 22 (UNI) A balloon hanging from a tree at Kemmade, a hamlet in Dakshina Kannada district created a panic for a while among the residents here yesterday.

It was later found that the balloon was a weather forecast device launched by the meteorological department for weather study.

It was fitted with electrical device and batteries. Panic gripped residents who found the balloon hanging on the tree and feared that it could be a live bomb.

However, a villager Namdev Kamath who managed to retrieve the balloon with electrical device and batteries in tact later handed it over to Mulky police station.
