AP govt makes speed governors fixing in MV compulsory

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister K Laxminarayana today said the government had issued orders for fixing of speed governors in certain categories of transport vehicles on December 28, 2007.

Replying to a question by Congress MLC G Rudra Raju in the Council, Mr Laxminarayana said the speed governors have to be fitted at the time of issue of permit or renewal of permit.

They should be sealed before the Motor Vehicle Inspector concerned.

Articulated vehicles, whether heavy goods or heavy passenger vehicles should have the speed governors, restricting the speed to 50 kmph. The Transport Commissioner had already notified March one, 2008, as the date for implementation of the orders, he said.
